high school One of the hardest things for her to deal with was wondering what other people thought about her and if they were judging her or not This is a common worry for someone who deals with anxiety to have and also a source of anxiety Today Paige does what she wishes she could ve done in high school She does public speaking about her experience with anxiety through a program that she started called the DREAM project Direct Resources for Education Alternatives and Mental Health in order to reduce the stigma associated with anxiety and and mental health to help others who are dealing with the disorder Many people still feel ashamed about struggling with something that is both common and treatable and Paige wants to get the message out that Had this type of information been available to me my school and life experience would have been drastically different In 2010 she was recognized for her leadership and advocacy by being selected as a winner of the Top 20 Under Twenty awards an awards program presented by Youth In Motion that celebrates and honours Canadians who have demonstrated a significant level of innovation leadership and achievement but

the level of response Secret Regrets has received from readers contributors and supporters I was completely overwhelmed at the response Secret Regrets received I could have never imagined that this project would touch millions of people worldwide changing lives â and even saving lives You were featured on the Dr Phil show a noteworthy accomplishment and indication of the value that Secret Regrets offers What do you think is the most important thing that Secret Regrets offers I think Secret Regrets initially offers a tremendous outlet for releasing pain guilt and internal suffering that many people keep bottled up inside But beyond that Secret Regrets offers hope and inspiration letting people know that no matter what theyâ ve been through they are not alone What is most surprising to you about how Secret Regrets has developed I was most surprised how complete strangers stepped up to offer comments of support encouragement empathy and unconditional love to people they didnâ t know It truly brought people together by becoming a global online support community of strangers helping strangers get through the toughest times of their lives If you could say one thing to everyone that has sent in or that carries around a secret regret what would that be I would say that no matter what you are facing in life you donâ t have to carry these burdens by yourself If you can find the courage to post your regret on SecretRegrets com you can take the next step and tell someone else A counselor a trusted friend or someone at your church Each small step you take will lead to you finally being able to put your regrets behind you once and for all Is there something you would want to say to someone who feels they donâ t deserve to move forward from a past regret I think for many of us we are our own biggest critics We have that little voice inside of us telling us weâ re not good enough we donâ t deserve to be happy But no one deserves to suffer alone Once we admit our regrets to ourselves or others we realize our situations are often not quite as bad as we sometimes tend to make them out to be And when we learn others have made it through similar situations it gives us hope that we deserve to make it through as well What do you think it is about Secret Regrets that provides people with an opportunity to heal Healing is a process that can only start once you are ready for it to start And to get ready you have to believe that you actually can heal That can be a tough place to get to But by seeing others who have made the seemingly impossible journey Secret Regrets gives so many people the courage to start on their own path of healing I truly believe that healing begins with revealing and thatâ s what Secret Regrets is all

lately that focus on personal feelings of loss and inadequacy and how you deal with it I think ballads are great in general There aren t enough good ballads being written these days That s probably not true at all Who or what inspires you My surroundings and relationships most of all I m always intrigued by how other people get around their lives and how we might intersect Also science fiction folk music Charlton Heston Toronto s live music scene I m also very inspired by playing different instruments to reflect my mood What do you do after a stressful day to calm yourself down Usually as little as possible I m a busy guy so I really need to rest The other day I found myself sitting at an all night diner writing on napkins Later on I played my tiny casio and sang little songs usually about killing people that bother me or about not wanting to take out the garbage Acting odd tends to alleviate stress for me Can you name an artist dead or alive that you would love to work with I don t know if it would be exactly a collaboration but if I could have one piece done on my behalf I d like my picture painted by Alice Neel She was a twentieth century portrait painter who did a lot of great artist portraits I d have her paint me nude maybe Also I d love to sing with a band like Tom Waits has used over the years with Marc Ribot and Greg Cohen Have you ever had a moment where you felt as though you had made it as an artist No I do feel however that I ve been doing artistic things for a while now which I

not different at all live It sounds different depending on the venue like our set is going to sound a lot different if it is in a church in England than it does in someone s garage That sort of makes it interesting for us since it gets boring playing the songs over and over we can feel good about when we play a venue that really works with our sound As far as improving the visuals that is a work in progress that is constantly evolving One of the challenges of being an artist who is relatively new is translating your vision into reality I think logistics are the thing we struggle with most making things happen is a lot harder than developing a concept Where do your lyrics come from I suppose that on some level all lyrics are personal but when the lyrics are created is there an intention on the part of the writer to tell a personal story or talk about something specific H Sometimes I know a lot of my songs were inspired by personal experience We all like stories a lot and like to tell stories so personal experience might inspire a story to evolve into an entire song JH It s nice to combine a strong narrative from personal experiences with things that are a lot more obscure or hidden Sometimes we can make this happen even by writing lyrics that tell a clear story and mask them with the music and sounds around the voice Sometimes the singing and or rapping in our songs are inaudible to the listener and only we know what they say it s like having a secret I read an interview with you last year and you said when speaking of influences Pretty much everything that s happened to us in our lives goes into our music past and present Dummymag com 20 09 10 What part does music play in maintaining your mental health How does creating songs together make you feel H I think it plays a huge role in our mental health as a lot of times music seems to be the only thing we have going for us There are a lot of pressures and people in this industry who might not have everyone s best interest in mind so I think we are lucky to have one another Working together is the best feeling because it s like ok they get it it s really validating Negative energy from press or critics never gets to us because ultimately we are making music for each other JH Music has literally saved our lives at one time or another Sometimes writing a song about an experience can be very helpful in understanding it too What are your influences these days either musically or just generally H I think a lot about horseback riding since I can t do that right now JH I have been paying a lot more attention to soundtracks and
